Having just graduated High School, Hank enlists in the United States Army with his buddy, John in search of glory in World War One. After boot camp, Hank is shipped off to France where he quarrels with John over their home-town sweetheart while at the same time fights the Germans along the Front in Alsace-Lorraine.

Later, as a member of the heroic “Lost Battalion” in the horrific Meuse-Argonne offensive that ended the war, Hank endures the loss of his comrades while trying to stay alive against all odds.

“A Red Horse Rode Out is first-rate historical fiction depicting a turning point in not only the lives of young men, but that of a young America,” Jonathan Deveraux, Historian.

“This historical novel is action-packed. It blends fast-paced drama with true events,” Kenneth P. Blair, The Book Reader.

"I found A Red Horse Rode Out to be a fine character-study of how young soldiers become indoctrinated into the ways of war, be it World War One, or current conflicts notwithstanding," Gabe Jamison, Novel Notes.
